The name of the technology comes from the Danish king Harald I Bluetooth, who united the scattered Scandinavian tribes in the 10th century. The technology developers considered this an excellent metaphor, because Bluetooth in the same way “unites” different types of technology into a single network. The technology logo is a combination of two Scandinavian runes meaning the king's initials.
According to analytical companies, more than 5 billion Bluetooth-enabled devices are sold worldwide every year. How Bluetooth works
Bluetooth operates on the 2.4 GHz frequency — the same range as Wi-Fi and microwave ovens. To prevent interference, the technology uses frequency hopping — it changes the data transmission frequency 1600 times per second.
